As the days get longer and the birds start chirping, it's time to tackle a common homeowner dilemma: bird collisions with your windows. You know that sad sound – a startling "thud" that can only mean one thing – a bird has mistaken your window for a shortcut.

Bird collisions can be the unintended consequence of beautiful windows and a disturbing sight for you and your family.  But there's help out there for our feathered friends!  

Looking for a solution for my own home, I wandered into Return to Nature, a birding and outdoor enthusiast's paradise in Lee's Summit.  While they have several bird deterrent product options, I chose the WindowAlert decals.  These semi-transparent clings in various attractive shapes were a fantastic choice!  While nearly invisible to the human eye on my window's exterior, birds are seeing their "glow" and altering their flight paths accordingly.  I haven't had a bird vs. window tragedy at my house since!  Check out the below pics of WindowAlert decals installed.  Can you spot the four butterfly decals as seen from the window's interior (and the same four butterflies adhered to the window's exterior)?
